Grateful for Small Steps

It has been an interesting year, a lot has happened and it will be recounted over the next few weeks. New Years Eve is the time people take to contemplate what mistakes they have made and what they can try to do better. Too often we do not accomplish our goals I think because we do not take them in a realistic way.

If we take simple task, moving through difficulties in small doses accomplish in small increments, and work to the larger picture success with our New Years resolutions will come easier, but most importantly if we learn to appreciate the small steps we take instead of always wanting more before we say to ourselves that is a good job. In the beginning God said, ‘That’s good.” We must learn to appreciate every little step; they often turn into bigger and hopefully better steps.

Taking It Easy

Looking at a picture of early morning fog sitting on the water I realize we are floating on the river of life, traveling through time not really sure of where we are going but surely going somewhere. Rowing through the water of life hopping what is around the bend will be a good thing but knowing deep down no matter what occurs we must handle it with a positive reaction. Being thankful makes being positive possible.

Staring out of a window and wondering what the rest of the world was doing. Turning and sighing and making myself content with what I was doing, and discovering as time passes we are all doing the same thing.

Quiet, Listen to Life.

Sit back and enjoy the quiet. Even if you have to use your imagination. Watch the sun come up. Take in the moonlight. Be thankful.

Sharing Is A Gift From God

Beauty is very simple, yet that is the beauty of it, simplicity. It is true with food , beautiful cloth, water, gold, and silver. It would seem the purer the form the more beautiful. Perhaps our lives in purer form would be more beautiful as well.

You, Thank You.

While watching celebrities on television today I noted the people who seem to be the most successful are the people who are just themselves. Whether we approve of them or disapprove. Whether they are rich or poor. Well known by the world at large or just the local man in the coffee shop. When people are themselves we remember them. A great many people spend their time trying to be someone else while selfishly refusing to allow the world to meet their unique personality. Being yourself is a great gift.

Look Around

I was driving and wanted to complain about the traffic and about a dozen other things and then I found myself thinking of a group of homeless living under a bridge. What right do I have to complain? Have you ever needed something yourself but saw someone else in need and shared a little of what you had with them. It is strange how you make it. When you didn't have but a little to start with. Try it sometime. A sneaky way of being nice while the world still thinks you are a tough guy. After all only one opinion matters, and he owns everything.

Life Happens- Thank You Notes

I was thinking of a person who was defending themselves for being kind. I could not help but think of times gone by when people would lay things neatly on the trash for people who needed them . They could get help and keep their pride all at the same time. This person does not know me and will probably never read this blog but for that person and all of the others who are undercover good deed doers. Thank you. And for all who do read this writing,be grateful we still have them. We can easily find ourselves in need of a kind person someday.

A Simple Thing

I find myself making a cup of tea and singing a Karen Carpenter song. The tea is a generic brand. I am usually very particular about my brand of tea but considering there are so many other urgent things going on in the world I think it only fair that I make myself quite happy with what I have. At least for the moment. Let me see what pastry might I add to this. I will walk it off later. See, took away the guilt. Get out of the house if you can. Look out of the window if you can't. I am sure,a bird a plane a cloud of dust. Something will catch your eye maybe your sense of smell to give you a moment of happiness.

Rough day-Not so bad

Sometimes we go about our day and feel we have the worst of it. Then things happens to make us realize that we didn't get the worst of it. Maybe something on the news maybe just a smile from someone less fortunate than ourselves. If you care to place a note to say thank you perhaps they will read it who knows. It is certainly worth a try to appreciate.
